Latinas of the world unite in joy, after one of the biggest and most important cosmetics brands in the world has announced the release of a Selena Quintanilla MAC collection based on the Queen of Tejano music, 20 years after her tragically early death.
The idea for a Selena Quintanilla MAC collection was actually started by the singer's fans, as earlier this year they released a petition through Change.org directed at the cosmetics company, saying that, due to the singer's iconic look and status (plus the hundreds of make-up tutorials based on her appearance on YouTube), it made perfect sense that Selena got her own cosmetics line based on her.
Through People Magazine, the major cosmetics company announced the Selena Quintanilla MAC collection, a limited venture with a series of products based on the singer's iconic look, a very 90s style that marked her beautiful Latina features - though there's no doubt women of all ethnicities will rock the new look!
"Selena's talent and beauty, inside and out, have left a colorful, meaningful impact in the world that has continued to grow over the last two decades," said James Gager, the M.A.C creative director, speaking about the upcoming Selena Quintanilla MAC collection. "We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies M.A.C's philosophy."
Billboard reports that fans already had a feeling the Selena Quintanilla MAC collection was coming, not only because of the online petition but also because during last Billboard Latin Music Awards, when Jennifer Lopez did a homage to the singer she once played on the big screen, Selena's sister Suzette hinted that the family was working with MAC on an exciting new project.
Now, Suzette has said that her sister always wanted to have her own cosmetics line, so this would've been a dream come true for the "Como La Flor" singer!
According to Time Magazine, Selena's estate is also currently working on a hologram version of the singer that will even perform new songs, which sounds vaguely like Al Pacino's movie "S1mone."
