At 1:15 p.m. ET, you can watch Felix Baumgartner on live feed as he skydives from 120,000 feet. This epic and record-breaking stunt will be streamed live from 35 cameras in the air and on the ground.
Originally scheduled for 8 a.m. ET, due to unfavorable conditions the launch was delayed to 1:15 p.m. ET. It will take approximately 2 hours for Baumgartner to be lifted to the jump elevation, where he will then take a leap back down to earth, lasting over 5 minutes in freefall and over 15 minutes parachuting.
Mission meteorologist Don Day confirmed, "Early fall in New Mexico is one of the best times of the year to launch stratospheric balloons."
Baumgartner will be launching from Roswell, New Mexico, in a capsule attached to a high-altitude balloon. The balloon itself is only 0.0008 inches thick made from polyethylene film, and if the material were laid out flat, it would cover 40 acres and weigh 3,708 pounds.
According to the Red Bull Stratos website, at launch the balloon and capsule together will stand taller than Seattle's Space Needle.
