Whoopi Goldberg stopped defending Bill Cosby in the media, when four dozen women spoke out to accuse Cosby of either sexual assault or attempted sexual assault. Bill Cosby however has denied the allegations through his attorney and that in the process of giving sworn evidence in a civil suit from 2005 shows, Cosby did not buy illegal drugs to give to women he wanted to have sex with.
Dan Abrams, the legal analyst for ABC News , during a one on one sit-down with Goldberg on The View, said, "If he was arrested, which he hasn't been, the legal standard would be proof beyond a reasonable doubt and he would be innocent until proven guilty."
Whoopi Goldberg who previously defended Cosby, did quite a turn around on the show that is overseen by ABC News. Goldberg has been bombarded recently due to her comments that Cosby has not been proven a rapist. The American courts agree with Whoopi Goldberg because Bill Cosby has not yet been proven guilty and has not been taken to jail.
When Dan Abrams said that the victims are now coming forward against Cosby, and the accused Cosby got nothing to do with it, Whoopi Goldberg said abruptly "Nothing?"
Dan Abrams replied as he repeats the word: "Nothing," and Abrams added, "pretty much nothing. There's a defamation suit, et cetera. But as a legal matter, it's because the statute of limitations has expired both on civil and criminal in the states this was alleged to have happened. That's a legal technicality. It is fair to say when you look at that, you say, 'Really? That's the reason?' It's because of a statute of limitations. It sure feels like a technicality. When you look at the totality of these cases, I think that the public put aside a courtroom can say you know what, wow, it doesn't just look like he did it, he admits that he gave quaaludes to young women to have sex."
And a message to Cosby from Goldberg, "It looks bad, Bill," she also said "Either speak up or shut up."
