New York Daily News reports that Rapper Capo was a documented gang member, and may have been cause of the drive-by shooting last Saturday afternoon, July 11, in his hometown Chicago.
Capo, real name Marvin Carr, 22, was shot in the hip and back. He was rushed to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries at 4:37 pm. No arrests yet have been made as authorities continue to investigate.
The vehicle of the shooters, while fleeing, ran down a baby in a stroller. They killed 1-year old Dillon Harper who was waiting for the bus with his mother and two sisters. All the others were unhurt, except for the baby. He was brought to a nearby children's hospital, but expired due to his wounds. A few blocks away, the suspects ditched the vehicle and fled on foot.
Rapper Capo is a member of the Chief Keef's Glo Gang. Chief Keef is the stage name of Keith Cozart, an American rapper and record producer from Chicago. His career started in 2011. His debut album, 'Finally Rich', hit music stores in 2012.
In a report, Chief Keef is mourning the death of his cousin and fellow rapper, Capo. He also expressed his condolences to the family of the hit-and-run victim, Dillon. He created the Stop the Violence Now Foundation, and encouraged others to give financial aid to the grieving family.
This is not the first time Chief Keef is losing a family member to drive-by shooting. In April last year, another cousin, Mario Kess, also a member of their rap group, was gunned down.
The homicide rate of Chicago has risen compared to last year. The figures alarm authorities. NBC Chicago reported that since Friday, July 10, there have already been 4 deaths and 20 wounded in different, unrelated shooting incidents.
