Sharknado 3 is still a year away, but fans are already preparing for the storm. The high ratings and off-the-charts twitter reactions have guaranteed another sequel from Syfy, due next summer.
But fans aren't the only ones getting excited. Several actors have been clamoring for coveted cameo roles, like Daniel Radcliffe, "Harry Potter" himself, the latest A-lister hoping for a chance to be eaten on-screen. The New York Daily News reports the "Harry Potter" actor expressed his interest to "Sharknado" star Ian Ziering backstage at ABC's "The Today Show" on Monday. Ziering told the paper that Radcliffe told him he "loved the film and said he would do it if they found an amazing way for him to die."
Radcliffe's interest comes as no surprise, as the so-called Twister-meets-Jaws franchise has become a legitimate blockbuster. Syfy recently released the first trailer for the third installment of the franchise. The short teaser promises more action and more sharks for next summer.
In 2008, Radcliffe revealed that he suffers from a mild form of the neurological disorder, developemental coordination disorder. The motor skill disorder sometimes gets so bad that he has trouble doing simple activities, such as writing or tying his own shoelaces. "I was having a hard time at school, in terms of being crap at everything, with no discernible talent," Radcliffe commented.
Radcliffe has supported various charities. He designed the Cu-Bed for Habitat's VIP Kids range (a cube made of eight smaller ones which can be made into a bed, chaise-longue or chair) with all the royalties from the sale of the bed going directly to his favourite charity, Demelza House Children's Hospice in Sittingbourne, Kent.
Radcliffe has urged his fans to make donations, in lieu of Christmas presents to him, to the charity's Candle for Care program. In 2008 he was among several celebrities who donated their old glasses to an exhibit honouring victims of the Holocaust.
