For its first two seasons, the highly acclaimed Showtime series based on the sexology research by husband-and-wife team Master and Johnson has had an amazing "Masters of Sex" cast led by Lizzy Caplan and Michael Sheen, also featuring the likes of Beau Bridges and Allison Janney - and now they're adding "The Walking Dead" alum Emily Kinney in a regular role.
Before joining the "Masters of Sex" cast, Kinney wasn't only in the zombie show but also dipped her toe in a few other shows, such as the Cinemax Steven Soderbergh series "The Knick" and even recently in the DC Comics adaptation "The Flash."
According to TV Line, Kinney will be joining the "Masters of Sex" cast for the show's upcoming third season, set to premiere later this week, and she will be playing Nora, a former neighbor of Libby Masters who volunteers as a "sex surrogate" in the ongoing research that has been going on since the first season.
Kinney's role in the "Masters of Sex" cast has been described as a "gutsy young adult" by Variety, as the show follows the wake of the sexual revolution in the 1960s, as Masters and Johnson are still among the most notorious researchers on the subject.
For this season, the "Masters of Sex" cast will be seen in 1966, a fairly important gap after the previous season, which was set between 1958 and 1961.
According to International Business Times, this season will also see the return of Sarah Silverman's role, as well as newcomers Tate Donovan (from "24: Live Another Day"), Josh Charles (who was in the main cast of "The Good Wife" until season 5), Julie Ann Emery (recently having a minor but vital role in "Better Call Saul"), Isabelle Fuhrman (who plays Clove in "The Hunger Games") and Maggie Grace (from "Taken 3.")
The "Masters of Sex" cast will see its return on Sunday, July 12 on Showtime, at 10 pm EST.
