Ant-Man: Paul Rudd ‘Never Imagined’ Starring in a Marvel Film [PHOTOS + VIDEO]

Paul Rudd, who is the latest to grace the cover of The Hollywood Reporter, talked about his career-changing role as Marvel's newest superhero Ant-Man.

Paul revealed that not only is he excited for the film but he is surprised to even be part of it.

"The Marvel world wasn't anything I thought about seriously because I guess I never imagined I'd get hired," he said.

The issue features an interview with Rudd and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige chronicling Ant-Man’s long journey to the big screen.

The 46-year-old actor has aced his comedic talents and he has been preparing hard for the action-packed film.

"I knew I was going to have to do rolls and flips and things like that. I just wanted to be as convincing as possible," he explained.

Marvel Studios has officially announced back in 2013 that Rudd was set to star in the Edgar Wright film, which will be the first Marvel film after Joss Whedon's The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Feige dropped a ton of Marvel news in a new interview, including several teases of specifically how Ant-Man will have an effect on Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He was elated to have the 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' star on-board, saying that they have found "the best actor for the part," and Paul was chosen because of his "inherent likability."

Ant-Man's father/daughter relationships had been a key part of the film's concept.

"These two guys are birds of a feather in many regards," said Rudd.

"If Scott is experiencing some of these things with his daughter, Hank can be maybe a few steps ahead of the game, but have the same kind of dynamic. It just seemed like interesting parallel stories to focus on, this idea of struggles that parents and kids have."

"Ant-Man" will hit the theaters July 17. Watch the trailer below.
