'Spider-man' Standalone Film Might Feature Marvel Cinematic Universe Characters [SPOILERS]

It appears to be Spider-man Week. Just a few days after Miles Morales has been named Spider-man of Marvel's main comic book series, Sony announced that Peter Parker will be played by 'The Impossible' star Tom Holland. The Spider-man standalone movie will also be helmed by 'Cop Car' director Jon Watts.

Kevin Feige has now confirmed that it will be possible to see The Hulk, Iron Man or Thor in the Spider-man standalone movie. The Marvel Studios president recently sat down with 'Ant-man' star Paul Rudd to speak to THR about 'Ant-man' and ended up answering a few questions about 'Spider-man.'

THR asked Feige about Marvel's involvement with Sony's 'Spider-man' standalone movie after Spidey's appearance in 'Captain America: Civil War.'

"Well, we're producing it for Sony. It's exciting, and we're treating it like we treat all of our films," Feige said. "[We] try to make the best version now of Spider-Man and a version of Spider-Man that inhabits this universe that we've created. We're in lockstep with [Sony Motion Picture Group chairman] Tom Rothman and [producer] Amy Pascal at every turn."

He was then asked if there will be any Marvel characters appearing in the 'Spider-man' standalone movie.

"Specifics of the story aside, the agreement that has been made between Sony and Marvel is that we could do that," Feige confirmed.

Fans were quick to speculate that members of the Avengers may drop in to help Spider-man out in his upcoming movie. Marvel and Sony initially had some difficulties finding their Peter Parker. The studios were torn between two young actors, Tom Holland (Sony's favorite) and Charlie Plummer (Marvel's choice).

Heroic Hollywood's Umberto Gonzales stated that Sony would have the final word on the chosen actor, since they would need their Spider-man for at least three films.

The yet untitled 'Spider-man' standalone movie is scheduled for release on July 28, 2017.
