Princess Diana’s Silk Versace Gown Is Up For Auction, Bid Starts at $30,000

Versace is preparing for the upcoming auction, after 18 years they already decided that it’s time to pull out from their fashion archives the historical Princess Diana gown.

Princess Diana classic Versace gown which she wore for a photo shoot is now slated for an auction at Julien’s Auctions’ on June 27, five days before her 54th birthday. With a hefty price tag that represents what is due a legendary piece owned by a royal.

Diana wore the blue, embellished Versace gown for a photo shoot in 1991 with famed photographer Patrick Demarchelier. The dress only made its first appearance in print six years later in November 1997. When Harper’s Bazaar featured it as a cover photo to commemorate her life, three months after her tragic death.
The silk gown with round golden studs, aquamarine, white glass beads and blue topaz will be auction at the starting price of $30,000. But it is expected that it could fetch a higher price.

According to reports, the Versace gown is the first dress the late Gianni Versace together his sister, Donatella, created for Prince William and Prince Harry’s mother.

In  one December, five gowns owned by late Princess Diana sold at $500,000 when it was auction at Julien’s Auction House.

It was just recently reported that Kate Middleton rushed Princess Diana’s son Prince William to the hospital after he collapsed at his mother’s grave. While the royal family was paying respect to the late Diana, the Prince just suddenly lost his consciousness.

Princess Diana died in August 1997, after the collision of two car in Paris roadway tunnel. The accident took place at the Pont de l’Alma tunnel, the cause of the tragic royal accident is unclear, for there are a lot of unproven floating theories regarding the accident and zero evidence to support numerous claims.
