Nickelback Tour: Band Cancels Shows, Chad Kroeger Diagnosed With Voice Cyst

Canadian rock band Nickelback has announced that they will not be performing in cities around North America in light of lead singer Chad Kroger's medical condition

Kroeger, who was diagnosed with an operable voice cyst a few weeks ago, needs to undergo a three-week surgery. For a faster full recovery, his doctors have requested the singer to go on temporary vocal rest right after the surgery, which entails backing out of their North America tour.

Those who have already purchased their tickets for the shows will be eligible for a ticket refund, as posted on Nickelback's official website.

Earlier this month, the band postponed their weekend shows and tours to give Kroeger time to rest his vocal chords. However, his condition wasn't a simple sore throat, which led to the diagnosis of the cyst.

The 40-year old singer relayed his sincerest apology to the Nickelback fans for having to cancel the concerts because of his serious condition.

On June 2, Nickelback returned home from a trip in Japan and Australia and two days before kicking off the second round of their U.S. tour, the singer revealed the sad news.

Kroeger told E! News "I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for our fans."

He added, "I am relying on my doctor and his team to help get my voice back in good form as quickly as possible."

Yesterday, band members Ryan Peake and Chad's brother Mike Kroeger broke out the news through a video clip posted on the band's official website.

"Chad was diagnosed with an operable cyst on his vocal cords very recently, and we're going to have to cancel the rest of the North American tour.", they said.

Nickelback will resume performing this coming September 30 for their European tour kicking off in Finland and is also set to have another North American tour in 2016.
