Hot Dog Pizza: Pizza Hut Releases Pie With Mini Hot Dogs Crust – Best Or Worst Idea Ever? [PHOTO]

Over the past few years, Pizza Hut's choices of crusts have grown increasingly odd as they raise more than a few eyebrows, but the new hot dog pizza seems like the end-it-all discussion of what a ridiculous pie looks like - and it will be available next week!

Before the announcement of the hot dog pizza, the fast food chain has released some fairly exotic pie crusts in the past, including one made out of Doritos last December in Australia, and now they're following the example of some of their international brands in this new turn.

According to The Daily Mail, hot dog pizza crusts already exist in the company's Australian and South Korean franchises, and the United Kingdom and Canada have also been serving a similar pie for a while, and over the past few months there had been rumors that the odd combination might be reaching the United States, and now Pizza Hut's confirmed the news.

The Impulsive Buy was the first to spark the hot dog pizza rumors in the United States, after reader The Groove Machine sent a photo of a Pizza Hut promotional flyer featuring a hot dog condiment marked as being inside a pizza, prompting many to believe the item, present in other parts of the world since 2012 under the name Hot Dog Stuffed Crust Pizza, could be present.

In the meantime, Business Insider is calling the hot dog pizza "the most ridiculous menu item" ever created in Pizza Hut, as the chain confirms it will be reaching U.S. stores on June 18.

"Unlike international variations, the Hot Dog Bites Pizza available in the United States, while supplies last, will be surrounded by 28 bite-sized hot dogs baked into the crust," the chain said in a news release regarding the hot dog pizza. "Perfect for dipping into the free side of French's mustard (which replaces the mustard drizzle offered on versions around the world)."
