A 13-year-old boy took part in gang rape along with six other men which was recorded on a mobile phone. The victim was a 20-year-old woman that had been visiting her friends before walking through the subway station on her way home. It was there that she met one of the suspects, Mihaita Pailie. The 33-year-old man is one of the 7 people you took part in the gang rape. The woman was taken to a house with two bedrooms. One of the rooms was described to have had two double beds and a sofa in it. The victim was then forced to a terrible four hours of rape.
After the ordeal, The victim immediately called the police to report what had happened to her. The police then investigated the crime scene. The suspects were caught and she later gave a three hour account in an interview. The defendants were identified as Octavian Militaru, 37, Mihaita Palie, 33, and Cosmin Nicut, 20, Radu-Florin Panciuc, 20, Nicolae Ghinea, 21, and Ion Matei, 41, and the 13 year old boy.
Palie is charged with rape and attempted rape, Nicut is accused of two counts of rape and one of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. Militariu faces two counts of rape, and the others face one charge each of rape. They now stand a four week trial.
On tuesday, the court was packed as the trial got underway. The adults sit in the dock with headphones as proceedings are translated into Romanian by interpreters sitting in the public gallery. The teenager however sits in a link room, in another part of the Courts of Justice building in London Road. There is still no exact description as to how she was brought from the subway station all the way to the alleged house were the crime was committed, but one thing is sure, she will be given justice.
