Tony Bennett's Flu Cancels UK Concert

Veteran crooner Tony Benett is down with flu that forces him to cancel his concert in London with popstar Lady Gaga. Bennett posted a Tweet on June 9, apologizing to his fans in the U.K.

The 88-year-old singer was scheduled to show up on another supposedly sold-out show in the U.K. for a tour called "Cheek to Cheek" with Lady Gaga. The night before he got sick, Elton John and Prince Harry even met with him backstage along with his co-star in the concert.

USA Today quoted Bennett's tweet saying, "Sorry to not be singing in London tonight. I love my fans in the UK and appreciate all the well wishes to get over this flu quickly."

There are rumors saying that Bennett collapsed earlier in the day, but his rep, Sylvia Weiner made it clear that the whole thing has no truth to it. His team made it sure that his fans are informed about the situation, as he has a reputation of never cancelling a show.

The cancellation of his performance set at the Royal Albert Hall was confirmed by concert promoter Live Nation according to the Denver Post. His touring schedule with Lady Gaga is for the album both of them have worked together. The album is of the same title as their tour. It has gained a lot of great reviews and it even won a Grammy this year.

Assuming that Bennett gets well from his flu, fans could see him continuing the show on Saturday in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Their website also announces four more shows scheduledn at the Radio City in New York this June.

For those who are wondering what happens to their tickets that they already purchased for the concert, Global News reported that Bennett's publicist announced that ticket holders must "retain their tickets to this event pending more information."
