Ferrari Welcomes The Sensational Comeback Of Dino

The 1960's iconic Ferrari Dino's sensational comeback is in progress. The Italian automaker in 1968, launched Dino. It was manufactured until 1976 with the V6 and V8-powered models. It was then priced at around $14,000, sharing the same price range as the Porsche 911, and can be auctioned today for $750,000 upwards.

Dino got it's name from the son of founder Enzo Ferrari.

Word has been out of its revival after a four long decades of absence. Ferrari's company chairman Sergio Marchionne said to Autocar: "It's not a matter of if, but when."

Ferrari Dino has six cylinders, and has gained respect and prestige from the world of racing cars.

With its fascinating bodywork Ferrari Dino was dubbed as Dino 206GT. The racingcar was then powered by a 2.0-liter V-6. In 1973 Dino 206GT was improved to 2.4 liters in the 246GT. And later in 1974 it was absorbed in the Ferrari family, when the model was replaced by the 308GT4.

Sergio Marchionne said that when the time come for Dino to be available in the market, it will be priced around $240,000 with a heavily built 500 horsepower.

Marchionne said: "We may produce a 500 horsepower Ferrari but it will not be a cheap Ferrari," he also added: "The brand is unique and needs to be protected. I would always rather build 500 fewer cars than the market demanded rather than 500 more. We must not mess with customer expectations of Ferrari as an exclusive brand."

Chairman Sergio Marchionne alsosaid that with a Ferrari V6 engine, Dino is expected to perform 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds.

The Ferrari Dino will be available only in the U.S. and not in Europe and China.
