Unaffiliated to core Baptism, the church founded by Fred Phelps has just told the world about its next target, as Westboro Baptist Church's Biden appearance is scheduled on their official website, announcing they'll be picketing the funeral of Vice President Joe Biden's son, Beau, and Attorney General of Delaware.
Only a few days back, "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling spoke on Twitter against the church, categorized as a hate group over their treatment of different minorities (like the LGBT and Jewish communities), and now they're back in the media again as the group famous for picketing celebrity and military funerals announced the Westboro Baptist Church Biden one is next.
According to USA Today, the group's decision to picket the Westboro Baptist Church Biden funeral was announced through their website this week, as they informed that they'd be going to Wilmington, Delaware, to appear at the Roman Catholic Church St. Anthony of Padua next Saturday.
The Westboro Baptist Church Biden funeral picketing is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., though Wilmington officials have publicly stated that the group isn't allowed to do so, as the state requires a permit to hold demonstrations.
The New York Post reports that the group's logic for the Westboro Baptist Church Biden demonstration is that Beau has "an eternity to answer to the Lord" over his actions in life.
"Lord willing, WBC will zealously warn Joe Biden and the others at that time/place that God has clear standards, that He requires obedience, and that He curses those who refuse to obey, especially those who interfere with His people in their worship of and service to Him," the group says, according to CBS. "Our faithful warning: Repent or likewise perish!"
Beau Biden passed away last Saturday at 46 following a years-long battle with brain cancer; his career included having been deployed to Iraq in 2008 and being Delaware's Attorney General for two periods, also planning on launching a Governor campaign later in 2015. His passing has been widely covered by the media, as condolences pour in to his family and close friends.
Besides Westboro Baptist Church's Biden, the group made headlines a few months back after attempting to picket the funeral of "Star Trek" actor Leonard Nimoy and failing after being unable to find the location.
