Princess Charlotte Of Cambridge Christened Where Princess Diana Was – Who Will Royal Baby’s Godparents Be?

The world stood watching for months after it was announced late last year that Kate Middleton and Prince William were expecting their second child, and now, only a few weeks after the royal baby was born, Buckingham Palace has announced the date of Princess Charlotte of Cambridge's christening.

Barely a month after the birth of the Princess Charlotte of Cambridge (whose full name Charlotte Elizabeth Diana honors both her grandparents and her great-grandmother, the Queen), the palace is already following procedure in having her christened in the Church her great-grandmother leads, in a ceremony that will be officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

According to BBC, the Princess Charlotte of Cambridge will be baptized at the St. Mary Magdalene Church in Norfolk, at Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham estate, the same place where her grandmother, Princess Diana of Wales, was christened on 30 August of 1961 by the Clerk of the Closet at the time, Percy Herbert.

ABC News reports that, for her christening, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge will be wearing the same gown as her big brother Prince George, a 2004 Angela Kelly remake that's an exact replica of one first commissioned by Queen Victoria 174 years ago, in a style worn by all royal infants since then, a total of 62 royal babies.

Her big brother and third in line to the British throne, George, was baptized at 3 months of age at St. James' Palace in London, in a small ceremony only attended by his immediate family, godparents and their spouses.

According to People Magazine, there are still no official announcements regarding who will be the godfather of the Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, but gambling houses in the United Kingdom are already piling up the possibilities, as many wager on it: Princess Beatrice and Eugenie head the list of family and friends, while Pippa Middleton (Kate's sister) and Prince Harry also appear as strong potential picks.

Another possible contendant to become Princess Charlotte of Cambridge's godfather is Peter Phillips, Prince William's cousin, whose sister Zara Tindall is already godmother to little Prince George.
