Elvis Presley 2015 Stamp: US Postal Service Honors King Of Rock ‘N Roll On Music Icon Series – With Graceland Ceremony!

There are very few musicians in 20th century history who have left such a mark on pop culture as The King of Rock 'N Roll himself did, and now, nearly forty years after his demise, the United States Postal Service honors him with the Elvis Presley 2015 stamp.

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, it was years ago, in 2013, the US Postal Service launched a series of stamps, "Music Icon," honoring some of the greatest musicians, and it's high time for Elvis Presley's 2015 stamp to reach the country.

ABC News reports that the Elvis Presley 2015 stamp isn't the first time the "Suspicious Minds" rocker legend appears on postage, as his first appearance was on 1993; now, in the new "Forever" stamp will see him joining other icons like Johnny Cash, Lydia Mendoza, Ray Charles, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.

The "Forever" Elvis Presley's 2015 stamp will cost ¢49, and International Business Times reports that there will be a First-Day-of-Issue ceremony on August 12 in Presley's former home (now museum) in Memphis, Graceland, which will be a part of this year's Elvis Week celebration - however, the stamp won't be available to customers until later on.

"Elvis is a natural addition to our Music Icon Series," Postmaster General Megan Brennan was quoted as saying in a statement released in the USPS's website. "His life and talents are an incredible story. Spanning from his humble beginnings in a Tupelo, Mississippi, two-room house to becoming one of the most legendary performance artists of the 20th Century, Elvis Presley's works continues to resonate with millions the world over."

For the past few years, Presley's estate has been managed by former wife Priscilla, the mother of his daughter Lisa Marie (once married to Michael Jackson and later Nicolas Cage), and it's been reported that, after Jackson, Presley is the highest-earning dead celebrity in the world.

The Elvis Presley 2015 stamps will be available later this year.
