Russian Lady Shoots Head For A Selfie

The demise of a woman from Russia adds to a growing number of deaths caused by just takinig a selfie. This social media trend has caused life-threatening conditions, if not putting a person's life to an end.

Huffington Post reports the most recent accident happened to a 21-year-old lady, when she accidentally pulled the trigger while pointing a gun to her temple for a selfie.

Happened in Russia, the young office worker named Veronika found a 9-millimeter pistol and pointed it to her temple. While posing for a selfie, she accidentally shot herself on the head.

One witness told Life News, "Veronika asked the guard to give her the weapon to take a photo, and he didn't refuse. She took the pistol and started making the selfie, and shot herself in the head by accident."

Veronika was rushed to Moscow's Sklifosovsky Hospital and is still in critical condition.

Charges might be imposed to the security guard who owned the gun for "negligent weapon possession leading to injury." If convicted, he might be sentenced to up to 6 months of imprisonment.

There have been an increasing number of reported deaths in other countries as well, proving that this is a worldwide phenomenon.

On Saturday, 21-year-old Mohammed Aslam Shahul from Singapore was found dead after falling off a cliff while attempting to take a selfie.

The young man reportedly plunged into the sea, just five meters deep.

In an attempt to take the 'ultimate selfie' in Romania, 18-year-old Anna Ursu instead was electrocuted to death while posing on top of a train. Her leg reportedly touched a live wire, sending about 27,000 volts throughout her body.
