Hugh Jackman is Unrecognizable as Blackbeard in New 'Pan' Trailer [VIDEO]

It looks like there is a new tradition in Hollywood, where classic fairy tales are given a makeover. After the success of 'Cinderella,' the new 'Peter Pan' movie has a different take on the beloved story.

Director Joe Wright has just released a new trailer for 'Pan,' which displays Hugh Jackman's Blackbeard in all his eccentric and terrifying glory.

The film also stars Levi Miller as Peter, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily and Garrett Hedlund as the young James Hook. The new trailer offers a glimpse at the stunning imagery of 'Pan.' The film synopsis is as follows:

"The story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny -- to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan."

The teaser also highlights the friendship between Peter and Captain James Hook. In the book, Hook is the main protagonist who goes after Peter Pan for cutting off his hand. The character has a strange fear of blood and is constantly trying to evade a ticking crocodile who wants to eat him. Hook has been described as the "boatswain to Blackbeard."

The notorious English pirate named Edward Teach is better known as Blackbeard. He has been depicted in several books including 'On Stranger Tides' and the Gregory Keyes series 'The Age of Unreason.'

Jackman is best remembered as the regenerative antihero Wolverine from the X-Men movie series. He was recently in the news for stating that after 'X-Men: Apocalypse,' he will appear as the clawed mutant in one last movie. There are speculations that 'Wolverine 3' will feature the hero's demise.

'Pan' also stars Amanda Seyfried, Kathy Burke, Nonso Anozie, Lewis MacDougall and Kurt Egyiawan. The film is scheduled for release on October 9, 2015.
