Meaghan Rath, "Being Human" Actress, Learns to Cook

Actors and actresses often get the five-star treatment from restaurants. Meaghan Rath, however, is an actress that wanted to learn how to cook on her own.

Rath, who plays a ghost on SyFy's Being Human, played the role of a chef when she attended a personal workshop at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts – Hollywood. She learned how to make foods that were both pleasing to her palate and easy on her system. All the foods she learned to prepare were dairy-free and gluten free (but who knows what that means, anyway).

The menu included three courses. It sounds delicious, but difficult to pronounce. According to BestAllergySites.com, Rath cooked Savory Winter Pumpkin Soup – with Butternut, Acorn and Kabocha squash, Filet Tenderloin au Poivre, and Classic Sabayon.

Rath is not the only talent in Tinseltown with specific food restrictions. Beyond dieting, many stars have sensitivities or allergies that require them to avoid certain ingredients. Zooey Deschanel and Billy Bob Thornton, for example, have sensitivities to wheat and dairy while quarterback Drew Brees and Chelsea Clinton both eat gluten-free food. Comedian Ray Romano, singer Kelis, and actor Joshua Jackson are all allergic to peanuts.
