Laura Linney Movies: ‘Truman Show’ Actress Joining Megan Fox In ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Sequel?

For more than 20 years, Laura Linney's movies have shown the actress' wide range as a performer, having been a part of projects as different as "Love Actually" and Clint Eastwood's "Mystic River," but it seems now she's taking a step into the new culture of box office smashes with her new choice.

In the past 15 years, Laura Linney's movies have turned the actress into a three-time Oscar nominee, for her performances in the 2000 film "You Can Count On Me," the 2004 biopic "Kinsey" and most recently in her 2007 movie "The Savages" - but she seems like the last actress someone would see in a sequel of a critical flop like the previous live-action adaptation.

According to The Guardian, Laura Linney's movies are about to see the actress' second incursion into blockbuster territory: though she's played mostly dramatic roles throughout her career, she was also part of the 1995 blockbuster film "Congo."

The exclusive about Laura Linney's movies adding "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" came from The Hollywood Reporter, breaking the news that the "Fifth Estate" actress will be joining filming in the next few days, though her role has been kept mostly a secret.

Other new additions to the cast include "Arrow" star Stephen Amell and "Gone Girl" actor Tyler Perry, who's also a somewhat odd choice to add to the sequel, though not nearly as eyebrow-raising as marking it as one of Laura Linney's movies.

The film, which is set for a summer 2016 release, has already begun shooting in New York, with stars Megan Fox and Will Arnett reprising their roles from the previous installment.

In a highly sarcastic report, AV Club has greatly criticized Linney's decision to join the production, saying that after her three Oscar and Tony nods and four Emmys the actress was finally "ready to get serious about this acting business" by joining the sequel.

There's still no official confirmation on whether it's true that Laura Linney's movies will now include "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2."
