After news broke out that Jessica Lange, the most familiar face of the series, would be leaving the show (alongside co-star Sarah Paulson), many have wondered about the fate of the "American Horror Story: Hotel" cast, as the choices for new characters seem odder and more interesting.
The biggest news to date about the "American Horror Story: Hotel" cast was undoubtedly the announcement that pop star Lady Gaga, who launched an album alongside crooner legend Tony Bennett last year, would be joining the cast for its fifth season, so at least her millions of fans are sure to tune in.
Now, according to Time Magazine, it's Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates who has been confirmed as part of the "American Horror Story: Hotel" cast, her third season on the show after having been a part of "Coven" and "Freak Show," the series' last two installments.
As Variety reports, Kathy Bates' first appearance on the show earned her an Emmy in 2014, for playing Madame Delphine LaLaurie in "Coven" - considering this, it's little to no surprise that the actress, famous for her role as a creepy book fan in "Misery," is set to join the "American Horror Story: Hotel" cast.
Besides Lady Gaga and Bates, USA Today reports that other additions to the "American Horror Story: Hotel" cast are Emmy-nominated "White Collar" actor Matt Bomer, "American Beauty" star Wes Bentley and Chloë Sevigny.
In recent interviews, FX network president John Landgraf has publicly stated that the new season would require a "huge reinvention," but it's still unclear what exactly would be changing in the show's format.
Another regular of the show's previous seasons, Emmy nominated actress Sarah Paulson, is yet to comment on whether she'll be returning as part of the "American Horror Story: Hotel" cast.
