Live-Action ‘Mulan’ In The Works After ‘Cinderella’ And ‘Beauty And The Beast’ – Disney Princesses Coming To Life!

Following the success of the Kenneth Branagh-directed 2015 take on the 50s classic "Cinderella," it seems that Disney's also planning a live-action "Mulan" for the near future, although seemingly the project would barely be in the early development stages.

In the past couple of months, Food World News has reported the development of the next Disney Princess movie to get its real-life incarnations, as "Harry Potter" actress Emma Watson was cast as Belle and former "Downton Abbey" star Dan Stevens was recently cast as The Beast/Prince - and it seems a live-action "Mulan" is next!

The Guardian reports that Disney has purchased a live-action "Mulan" screenplay written by Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek. The project is set to be produced by JC Spink and Chris Bender, who have worked in the past with adult comedies such as "The Hangover" trilogy and "We're the Millers."

The film would feature a new take on the 1998 animated movie that starred the voices of Eddie Murphy and Ming-Na Wen, the latter of which has apparently gathered a lot of support through Twitter in the last few hours, and she told fans to ask Disney to think of casting her in a role for the new version!

The Hollywood Reporter was the outlet to break the exclusive about the development of a live-action "Mulan," as Disney seems to be taking more challenges from past projects, following the success of the 2014 take on "Beauty and the Beast" starring Angelina Jolie, "Malificent."

It's the time of the Disney princesses, it seems, as there's already been two favorites cast besides Watson: Elle Fanning as Aurora and Lily James as Ella. We can't wait to know who'd play the lead in a live-action "Mulan"!

Besides the yet unannounced live-action "Mulan," other confirmed remakes in Disney are a sequel to the 2010 Tim Burton "Alice in Wonderland" film, a new version of "The Jungle Book" and Burton teaming up with the studio again for a reimagining of "Dumbo."
