‘Star Wars Episode 7’ News: Will J.J. Abrams Also Direct ‘Episode 9’?

Having been a pivotal part of the new "Star Trek" movies as well as being chosen as the director for the sequel to the original George Lucas trilogy, J.J. Abrams has turned in a short time in one of the biggest names in geek culture - and the latest "Star Wars" episode 7 news states that he might be coming back for more in another sequel of the story of a galaxy far, far away.

Seeing as it's one of the most widely expected films of the year (along its fellow Disney Pictures film "Avengers: Age of Ultron"), "Star Wars Episode 7" news make headlines every time anything pops out - and the director for the third installment of the new trilogy is definitely important enough.

Slash Film reports that the latest "Star Wars Episode 7" news sees Abrams, who is currently in the post-production phase of the film, getting offered the directing chair for the ninth "Star Wars" movie, which would have a story that's even a bigger secret than what's already at stake.

As Screen Crush reports, the director for the second film of the new trilogy has already been announced, as last week's "Star Wars Episode 7" news saw that Rian Johnson, the director of "Looper" and the iconic "Breaking Bad" episode "Ozymandias," would be taking on the job for the movie set for a 2017 release - following tradition, each of the new trilogy films will be released within two years of each other, with the third installment set for a 2019 release.

According to Latino Review, the "Star Wars Episode 7" news say that the people at Disney are incredibly happy with the work Abrams has already presented of the upcoming film, and are therefore considering to bring him back for the third installment, and apparently he's the front-runner to direct.
