The actress is no stranger to acting in political dramas, as she's the leading lady of the widely successful ABC Shonda Rhimes series "Scandal" - and now, after years of playing Olivia Pope in the hit show, Kerry Washington's Anita Hill casting takes the beautiful actress to a whole other level.
In the early 90s, Hill became a household name after stating that Clarence Thomas, an U.S. Supreme Court nominee at the time, had sexually harassed her when supervising her work in the Department of Education - and now, Kerry Washington's Anita Hill movie will take her story to the small screen.
According to The New York Post, the Kerry Washington Anita Hill film will be called "Confirmation," and it will deal with the 1991 scandal during the 1991 Thomas-Hill hearings in the Supreme Court, a time in politics that brought on important legislation and attention about sexual harassment in the work environment.
CNN reports that Susannah Grant, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of feminist film "Erin Brokovich," will be responsible for the Kerry Washington Anita Hill movie's script, and the film's executive producers will be Washington, Grant, Michael London (from ABC's coming soap "Astronaut Wives Club") and Janice Williams.
Sources report that Rick Famuyiwa, the man responsible for indie films "Dope" and "The Wood," is currently in talks to direct the Kerry Washington Anita Hill film, though there's currently no official deal.
According to Hollywood Reporter, this is just the latest announcement the subscription cable network has made in regards of TV movies, as earlier this week they announced that they'd cast Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti as Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs in a film about their legendary "Battle of the Sexes" match, one of the biggest events tennis has ever witnessed.
