‘Ghostbusters’ All Male Reboot ALSO Developing, Channing Tatum And Chris Pratt Starring

After the cast for the first reboot of the beloved 80s comedy starring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd was announced earlier this year, now it seems it's the turn for a "Ghostbusters" all male reboot as well, set in the same universe as the one starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy.

Last January, Food World News reported the announcement of the new "Ghostbusters" film, which included the talents of Oscar-nominated actresses Wiig and McCarthy, as well as SNL cast members Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong and Leslie Jones - but it seems this is only the start of a whole new franchise about poltergeist hunters, with a "Ghostbusters" all male reboot also in the works.

Deadline was the first to report that a "Ghostbusters" all male reboot was also in development, with Sony Pictures currently searching cast members for "Ghostbusters," a film that would include Dan Aykroyd himself and Ivan Reitman, who was the director of the original 1984 classic.

It seems that both Aykroyd and Reitman have now established their own production company, Ghostcorps, which will be working on the expansion of the famous brand, including the Paul Feig 2016 film that's currently in preproduction and the "Ghostbusters" all male reboot.

According to Screen Rant, recently Aykroyd had stated that he still looked forward to working on a sequel, so his involvement in the "Ghostbusters" all male reboot comes as no surprise, though it is unclear whether he'll be taking on a role in the new film as well as producing it.

As far as Bill Murray is concerned, he's long made it clear that he's not interested in being further involved with "Ghostbusters."

As USA Today reports, the possibility of a reboot starring solely men (for now, supposedly Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt) has created some controversy on Twitter and different media, as it's deemed both unnecessary and sexist; many, including former child star Mara Wilson (from "Matilda") have taken to Twitter to make sarcastic remarks about the film.

Sony Pictures has neither confirmed nor denied a possible "Ghostbusters" all male reboot.
