Lizard Squad Hacking Lenovo Website

It appears that Lizard Squad, the group which took down the Xbox Live and Playstation Network on Christmas Day is behind the attack of Lenovo website, mashable.com said. Last week, Lenovo was all over the news after reports of having adware on its computers which disabled their HTTPS connections.  At around 4 in the afternoon on Wednesday, Lenovo website visitors saw a slideshow of people looking at webcams while Breaking Free from High School Musical was the song playing at the background, according to The Verge, a technology publication, which initially reported the breach.

The Chinese smart phone and computer company Lenovo Group Ltd revealed the hacking incident on Wednesday. This is their 2nd security stain days right after the US government suggested costumers to eliminate software recognized as Superfish on their laptops. Lizard Squad affirmed responsibility for the attack incident on Twitter, timesofindia.indiatimes.com reported. Lenovo stated hijackers violated the system domain name related to Lenovo and passed on visitors of their website to another website address, while as well interrupting interior company emails.

Lizard Squad placed an exchange of email between Lenovo employees talking about Superfish in its Twitter. The software was at the middle of public chaos in US last week since security researchers stated they discovered it to permit attackers to imitate banking sites and steal credit card data of users. In a statement issued in the US, Lenovo, the largest developer of private computers all over the world, said it has already repaired its site to standard operations after a few hours.

During the attack, the company said that they regret any inconvenience their users may have if they cannot access sections of their site at this time.  They secured everyone that they are already doing the necessary reviews about their network security in order to restore their site and protect the integrity of their users' information.

Lizard Squad has confirmed credit for various high-profile outrages which include their attack to Playstation and Xbox Live last month (January).  Even though no consumer data was compromised from the Lizard Squad attack, Lenovo had learned. They pledged to never install Superfish on their future software development again.
