Over the course of decades, "Weekend Update" has been one of the most popular sections in "Saturday Night Live," often changing formats but never the core: it might even be the only surviving section from the very first season, when comedy legend Chevy Chase sat behind the desk to read the fake news for the first time.
Many great comedians have read the news over the years, including "3rd Rock from the Sun" star Jane Curtain, the Golden Globe hosting super duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Norm MacDonald, Seth Meyers and Colin Quinn - all of whom came up to speak about the long-running skit, accompanied by Oscar-nominated stars Emma Stone, Edward Norton and Melissa McCarthy, all of whom honored their favorite "Weekend Update" characters.
