‘Spaceballs’ Sequel Movie: Is Mel Brooks Making ‘Spaceballs 2’ With Rick Moranis After ‘Star Wars’? [VIDEO]

It seems that all these years, legendary comedy actor and director Mel Brooks regretted not making a "Spaceballs" sequel movie after the second "Star Wars" trilogy came out - but he's spoken out and said he wasn't about to make that same mistake again, with "Spaceballs 2" on the way!

Now that Mel Brooks has announced that there will be a "Spaceballs" sequel movie, fans of the cult satire on "Star Wars" and science fiction movies of the like can rejoice - "Spaceballs 2" will actually come almost thirty years to the date of the release of the original movie, which featured the talents of people like the late Joan Rivers.

According to Consequence of Sound, Brooks was recently in an interview on Adam Carolla's "Take a Knee," the actor talked about the possibility of a "Spaceballs" sequel movie, speaking out about what he was planning on doing - though he wasn't all that clear since, of course, it would vastly depend on how the new "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" movie turns out.

According to E! Online, the director was asked about whether he still met up with the guys from the classic movie, particularly Bill Pullman (who played Lone Star in the original film) and Rick Moranis (Dark Helmet), and, to everyone's joy, Mel Brooks said that perhaps they'd all meet up for the "Spaceballs" sequel movie in a few years to come.

"And I'm thinking now, if I said, if I did a movie that came out right after Star Wars comes out," Brooks started, according to Splitsider, "you know, maybe a couple of months later, Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money, I'd have a big weekend, you know, no matter what, even if it fell on its ass and you know, didn't get that money back."

It definitely sounds like a fun project to have the classic comedy come back to life, but it seems that fans shouldn't be getting ahead of themselves just yet: the "Spaceballs" movie sequel would only happen if Rick Moranis got on board with the project, and he retired from acting years back.

Please, Mr. Moranis, come back to Hollywood for the "Spaceballs" movie sequel!
