The special sauce from the fast food giant has been the subject of wonder for many years, as a lot of fans of the franchise with the golden arch have unsuccessfully tried to repeat it; now, one lucky bidder will get the McDonald's Big Mac sauce for a staggering $18,000!
Earlier this week, Food World News reported that the famous McDonald's Big Mac sauce went on sale across the Australian in a special edition this February, on 25 ml tubs, with a special edition of a 500ml bottle that was set to go on eBay for the benefit of the chain's charity - the bidding hasn't even been closed yet and the amount is absolutely insane!
According to The Daily Mail, the McDonald's Big Mac extra-special sauce comes, as previously reported, in a 500ml bottle (which amounts to 16 ounces), which is squeezable. It's not the only bottle released in this edition, as 199 other ones will accompany it - though it's tough to know whether they'll be just as successful!
The Guardian reports that the special McDonald's Big Mac sauce is actually something of a pop culture icon for the big fast food chain, as it's probably among the items most asked for, with patrons being particularly curious as to its ingredients. Now that there's a buyable tub edition of the sauce, the Australian franchise has posted the ingredients online, and the Canadian franchise went so far as to post a YouTube tutorial on how to make it a few years ago (which you can watch below).
As Fox News reports, the recipe is pretty much a "souped-up Russian dressing," but that hasn't stopped bidders in the Australian franchise from offering exorbitant amounts for a large bottle of the famous sauce that had a secret recipe up until a few days ago
"For too long Big Mac Special Sauce has been trapped in a beautiful, delicious burger - now we've set it free!" says the eBay description of the special bottle of the McDonald's Big Mac sauce. "This bottle is #1 of only 200 being produced worldwide, and they won't be sold in restaurants. That makes it rarer than a spot on Bondi beach on New Years Day. So slide the mustard, mayo and tomato sauce to the back of the fridge - because everything tastes better when it tastes like the Big Mac."
