Cheese Ban USA: Before Seahawks-Packers Game, Seattle Bans ‘Obnoxious’ Cheese

As anyone who watches ESPN regularly will tell you, sports rivalries are serious business, so much that they can ultimately even get certain types of foods banned from entire cities in the eve of a big match - which is just what happened with the cheese ban USA in Seattle!

This Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers will meet up in a match to see who gets to be in the Super Bowl next February 1, and there's a Seattle suburb that's taking things very seriously when it comes to the prospect of their team winning, even going so far as to ban cheese USA from its boundaries.

According to The Washington Post, Bainbridge Island, a small suburb of Seattle about 20 minutes away from the city on a ferry, has officially released a statement with a cheese ban USA, stating that there will not be any "obnoxious" cheese-themed foods or outfits right before the big game.

Of course, the cheese ban USA in this case comes because the rival the Seahawks are facing is from Wisconsin, a state known for its cheese production, and residents are often called "Cheeseheads" - such is the pride for their state product that fans wear cheese hats in games and even walking around the city.

As Yahoo! Sports reports, the city didn't so much ban the dairy product from the entire land, but rather only in the City Hall - which doesn't really make the whole thing any less hilarious at all.

"Section 2. On Sunday, January 18, 2015, the Seattle Seahawks opponent in the NFC Championship game will be the Green Bay Packers, a.k.a. Cheeseheads," reads the executive order. "Fans of the Green Bay Packers are frequently seen wearing obnoxious wedge-shaped foam hats painted yellow. Section 3. Due to the relationship between the Green Bay Packers, their fans, and cheese, the possession of and/or consumption of cheese or cheese flavored products shall be banned in Bainbridge Island City Hall on Friday, January 16, 2015."

Fans of the famous Wisconsin product in the Bainbridge Island City Hall can go back to eating it at work next Monday, regardless of the game's results, as the cheese ban USA will have already been lifted.
