‘Selma’ Movie Cast: Martin Luther King Jr. Biopic, Loved Or Hated?

As movie awards season is finally here, the very first major film award ceremony, the Golden Globes, will be airing live this Sunday and, among the nominees - which feature a lot of biographical movies - there's the newest film about Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., but how are the "Selma" movie cast's chances looking like?

It's widely known that there are particular features that film critics and the Academy really love in films: being about a real person (the more iconic the person was, the more interesting and "Oscar-baity" the movie is), deep social significance, and about overcoming great difficulty - all of these things that can be found in the different reviews directed at the "Selma" movie cast.

According to the BBC "Selma" cast review, the film is the first "five-star" one of the year - it was only just released in the United Kingdom - as it shows the true nature of King, one of the most iconic figures of the 20th century and certainly the most recognizable face of the 1960s civil rights movement in the United States.

In the meantime, San Francisco Gate states in its review that "Selma" is not a great movie, but rather a "very good movie on a great subject," with a lot going on for itself, particularly its star, actor David Oyelowo, who, although he doesn't look all that much to the iconic civil rights figure, has studied King's gestures and mannerisms up to the point of bearing a striking resemblance to the man.

The "Selma" movie cast is overwhelmingly British for a film that's so inherently American, giving an account of all the struggles that King's campaign for equal voting rights went through in 1965, as he led a march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, asking for the most fundamental of democratic rights.

The "Selma" movie cast is led by David Oyelowo and also features the talents of Carmen Ejogo as his wife Coretta Scott King, as well as Tom Wilkinson as President Lyndon B. Johnson - all three actors being British. Other stars include Giovanni Ribisi and Oprah Winfrey.
