Mark Zuckerberg reading program kicked off Jan. 3, 2014 as part of Facebook founder and CEO's commitment to read, learn and share values on each book read every other week for 2015. "A Year Of Books" page created by Zuckerberg earned over 120,000 likes since it was created.
Mark Zuckerberg reading program is part of his commitment this year, which also challenges his followers to do the same. On his page, Facebook CEO revealed "The End of Power" by Moises Naim as the first book to be read and discussed.
Mark Zuckerberg released a statement on his official page that reads: "My challenge for 2015 is to read a new book every other week -- with an emphasis on learning about different cultures, beliefs, histories and technologies."
Before Mark Zuckerberg reading program was created, he asked for suggestions from his followers on what books to read every other week. Some suggested he read a bible while his friend Amin Zoufonoun suggested he read a book about a new country every week.
On Mark Zuckerberg reading program, he explained that he's excited for his reading challenge. He added he find reading books very intellectually fulfilling.
"Books allow you to fully explore a topic and immerse yourself in a deeper way than most media today. I'm looking forward to shifting more of my media diet towards reading books."
"The End of Power," the first book for Mark Zuckerberg reading program was Amazon's "movers & shakers" that has become one of the biggest best-sellers that was published by Basic Books in 2013, The Blade reports.
Mark Zuckerberg reading program was not the first one. Earlier, same program was incepted by Oprah Winfrey, "Good Morning America" and the "Today" show. Winfrey's latest reading was Sue Monk Kidd's "The Invention of Wings" that was announced early in 2014 according to Vancouver Sun.
