Europe's biggest football clubs already have its target on each other's back after the Champions League draw last Monday revealed who is going to play who. Perhaps the one fixture that is going to be more explosive than the other is the rematch between French club Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League's Chelsea.
Paris Saint-Germain is out for revenge after failing to advance to the semifinal in a humiliating defeat to Chelsea in last year's Champions League. When asked about what he can say about seeking revenge against Chelsea, sporting director Olivier Letang said "We know it will be a difficult game like last season but we will do everything we can to be ready for the two games against Chelsea.
Paris Saint-Germain finished the first leg of the match with a 3-1 thrashing of Chelsea. What happened in the second leg was nothing short of a miracle. PSG started the game with a confident 3-1 lead Chelsea's relentless attack however, drove them to gain a 2-0 advantage and ultimately winning the match, booking themselves a meeting with Atletico Madrid in the semifinals.
PSG under their new Middle Eastern owners are eyeing to be the champion. They have been successful in almost all their domestic endeavors with relative ease but are still unable to lift the Champions League trophy. This positive drive to conquer this hurdle will justify the owner's vision when they first took over the club. The club owners' petro-dollars have managed to purchase big stars all over the globe and overhaul the whole team's lineup in hopes of becoming the top footballing club in Europe.
The club has managed to buy superstars like striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Brazilian defender Thiago Silva and Javier Pastore among others. This line-up has been fantastic in terms of dominating various domestic leagues but has struggled to get out of the knockout stages. This exposed void within the club is a big hole that Chelsea will most probably use to further their cause.
