$18 Million In Classic Cars: ‘Barn Find’ In France Unearths 100 Rare Cars

$18 Million In Classic Cars - a rare and unique according to many, finding of 100 cars in rural France; and not just any sort of cars, but classic ones.

Said classic cars include a Ferrari 250GT SWB California Spyder, which is the big actual news on itself, also other models such as Bugatti, Hispano-Suiza, Talbot-Lago, Panhard-Levassor, Delahaye, Delage, Maserati and Porsche.

All of these were collected by Roger Baillon, a French transportation mogul, who collected them through the 1950's and 1960's and then fell on hard times in the 1970's and had to sell part of the collection that reached 200 cars, the Business Insider noted.

"Never again, anywhere in the world, will such a treasure be unearthed," said Pierre Navikoff from the auction house Artcuriel when they stumbled across this "barn find."

He also compared the Baillon collection to Lord Carrington and Howard Carter's entering into the Tutankhamun's tomb. Basically, he stated this was unique and wouldn't repeat itself, according to Car and Driver.

From the 100 cars that were found in the Baillon collection, 60 of them will be auctioned as they are believed to be solid enough and a restoration of them is more than possible.

The remaining 40 cars will most likely be sold in parts by the family.

The cost of the entire collection is estimated at over $18 million dollars and a huge portion of that is expected due to the Ferrari California Spyder, which regularly costs around $10 to $15 million.

The auction of the 60 cars will take place on Feb. 6, 2015.

A detail that seems most shocking is the fact that this collection of classical cars went unnoticed for so long. Classical cars have been a passion of too many collectors for a very long time.

Now, this collection which hopes to gain $18 million will certainly not be forgotten for a long time as a great finding.
