Weatherwax also voiced the animated Pugsley for a cartoon version of the series and even played Pugsely Sr. in the 1977 TV special "Halloween With the New Addams Family". Weatherwax has remained in the show business and worked as a set builder for movies. However, he has retired a few years back for medical reasons.

Weatherwax is a Log Angeles native and also appeared in toothpaste commercials but no longer had other roles after the Addams Family show. He said that he was a victim of typecasting. He also talked about kids at school who hassled him for having played a character named Pugsley when he was interviewed by Bill O'Reilly back in 2008.

He shared, "Frankly, I didn't deal with it very well. I was kicked out of like six or seven schools and went into the service [the Army] at the age of 17. I did kind of draw a lot of fire from that."
