The former drummer of Cake identified as Peter Ivan McNeal has been sentenced to life in prison for 15 years as he has been convicted of molesting a three-year-old girl.
It has been announced at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday and the 48-year-old musician was found guilty of the said case back in March 2013.
The case was said to be one count of oral copulation of a child that is ten years old or younger and he is to register as a sex offender for life.
The crime reportedly happened back in 2009 during Thanksgiving at a home in Los Angeles Laurel Canyon and he was a guest in the said house. This has been confirmed by Deputy District Attorney Elena Abramson. The case has been investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
McNeal has had a first trial about the case but it ended as a mistrial due to hung jury and was then retried and convicted just this March. No other information has been released as to why he did it and if he was under the influence of liquor or any substance. Also, it has not been made public what his relation was to the family of the 3-year-old girl.
Cake was a band formed in California back in 1991 and they had hit songs such as "The Distance" and "Never There". McNeal has joined the band only in 2001 when he replaced the drummer Todd Roper. Mcneal has played with the band for four years.
McNeal has also played as a session drummer for other famous musicians. To name a few, he has played with the likes of Norah Jones and Mike Doughty.
The band has not yet commented regarding McNeal's imprisonment and charges as well as the family of the 3-year-old molested by the former drummer.
