Reese Witherspoon Update: Talks About Playing A Drug Addict Character

Reese Witherspoon has been featured for the January 2015 issue of Harper's Bazaar U.K. and the actress talked about her role as a former drug addict in the upcoming movie entitled "Wild".

The actress has revealed she could not use her past experience as she explains, "I've never done drugs. I was really confused. I didn't know what I was doing." However, despite her confusion in the role, she did say that it was something special.

She shares, "It just required being in a really raw emotional place that didn't feel good." The film is said to be based on the best-selling book of Cheryl Strayed and it is about a woman's pain and Witherspoon needs to channel that. The book is entitled: "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail".

Witherspoon also revealed about the sex scenes that were really intense and she noted they were difficult to shoot for a big screen movie. She narrates, "[The sex scenes were], like, three percent of the movie, but it took up a tremendous amount of fear in my mind because it's daunting. Sometimes I was just terrified. Like a cat on a raft...'You can't make me do it.'"

Witherspoon did say, however, that she was lucky to have been picked to do such a role as it is not every day that such comes for actresses in Hollywood. She shared, 'It wasn't as if there was a lack of roles being offered to me. It was the dynamic aspect of playing a really interesting, complicated person that was not readily available. It's strange that you don't see many complicated women on film; complicated meaning complex, I should say."

The 38-year-old also talked about making dramatic movies saying that it requires something that does not feel good and noted it is not a fun space to live in a lot of time. She then expressed her hopes of having a comedic movie. She said, "It's why I enjoy doing comedies. It's much easier, thinking of what rhymes with truck."
