Chespirito is widely popular for his lively characters including "El Chavo del 8," "El Chavo del Ocho" and "El Chapulín Colorado," that inspired the character Bumblebee Man in a U.S. cartoon series.
As the whole Mexico is mourning about Chespirito death, Enrique Peña Nieto, Mexico's president, stated in his tribute for Chespirito on Friday, "Mexico has lost an icon whose work has transcended generations and borders."

Maca Rotter, executive director of Televisa Consumer Products, commented on Chespirito death saying there is only one Roberto Gómez Bolaños in Mexico's history and noone could equal or be like him.
Chespirito was born in 1929 in Mexico. He started his early career in scriptwriting while studying engineering. His big break came in the 1950's when media and the public started recognizing his brilliant works. He had written 20 films, various theater productions and hundreds of television episodes.
Chespirito death was tragic for his millions of followers. In 2011, at the age of 82, he made his first tweet saying, "Hello. I'm Chespirito. I'm 82 years old and this is my first tweet. This is my debut. All the good people, follow me!" That instant message drew millions of followers in more than a month.

It was director Agustín P. Delgado who gave Chespirito his popular name. In the 1960's Roberto Gómez Bolaños' wrote two Mexican television shows that became instant hit. It was then the director gave him the name Chespirito.
Chespirito means "Shakespearito" or "Little Shakespeare," a credit given to him by the director for his excellent writings.
A year before Chespirito death, a book entitled "Chespirito: Vida y Magia Del Comediante Más Popular De América" ("Chespirto: Life and Magic Of America's Most Popular Comedian") was reported to be published in honor for contribution made by the great comedian.
