‘Scandal Season 3’: Recap

"Scandal" third season began on October 3, 2013 on ABC and closed out in April 2014. Its finale got record crowd according to ABC. The season finished with 39 percent up in viewers plus 43 percent up in adults 18-49 years old which is a 3.4 in demo rating, the shows second best in young adult number to date. This is so far its highest-rated season ever.

So let's take a look back on that final episode. What was it all about? Why did it draw such a high rating?

In the last episode Fitz escaped from the bomb explosion inside the church with the help of Jake, to start with. Olivia and Jake were then convinced that Fitz lost the election. Olivia spills out the secret on Mellie being raped which caused Fitz to stay with Mellie. Quinn then receives an envelope from Charlie containing information about Huck's family whom Huck met later. Jerry suffered a seizure during the rally as Fitz was giving his speech and died later of bacterial meningitis. Fitz then found out that the real cause of death was poison and blamed Maya Pope for the murder of his son. He hired Rowan to kill Maya Pope. Olivia decided to take up her fathers' offer which made Abby feel betrayed. Jake asked to come with her and she agreed. Meanwhile Rowan forced Harrison assist him in capturing Maya and then Harrison figured out that Rowan was behind the deaths of Jerry and Adnan and was then killed by Tom. Fitz actually did win the election and the episode ended with Jake and Olivia going on a plane while Jake sent David Rosen a copy of all the classified B613 information.

So the season ended with a big bang (with bomb exploding), betrayal, murder and a chance to start a new life. So that's why the finale got a super high rating. It was worth watching indeed!
