After the release of their joint jazz album, "Cheek to Cheek," Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga are doing just what everyone was dying to hear from them: perform live together once again!
The new Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga album has been an unlikely success from a more than unlikely duo: Bennett is a legend of jazz and vocals, and Gaga is the most extravagant pop singer the world has seen since 80s pointy bra Madonna.
However, their album has received mostly positive feedback, with many critics pointing out that Lady Gaga's vocals are more Stephanie Germanotta than the character she's created for performances, saying she's a revelation on it.
"Cheek to Cheek" debuted at number one on the United States Billboard, marking the third consecutive number-one album for the extravagant singer and making Bennett break his own record as the oldest singer to hit a number-one album.
Website Metacritic puts the Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga album at 64 with mostly favorable reviews, based on 12 critics.
It seems that "Cheek to Cheek" is an album that will not be having any tours, so it's always a joy to hear that there will be some live versions of the classic songs performed in it. So, now the Boston Herald has reported that Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga will be appearing at Tanglewood Music Festival, the iconic annual festival based on Lenon, Massachussets.
The Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga performance at Tanglewood will be quite an event to attend, according to Boston.com. While these two will be a part of the festival's Popular Artist Series of 2015, it won't be the only thing going on: Huey Lewis and the News will also be around!
There will also be some celebration in the event, according to Slipped Disc: it's the inaugural season of new Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) director Andris Nelsons; the 75th anniversary of the Tanglewood Music Center, the summer academy of the BSO; and, finally, conductor sir Neville Marriner will be celebrating his 90th birthday and leading the BSO for two of Mozart's symphonies next summer.
So, if you're a fan of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga's new album or are all about amazing classic music, next year's Tanglewood festival might be the perfect summer experience!
