Fireball in Texas Sky Video - A lot of Texas residents witnessed a fireball crossing the night sky Saturday just after 8:30 p.m.

A YouTube user was able to catch the amazing sighting of what appears a meteor streaking the night sky through a dash-cam.

NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office lead, Dr. Bill Cooke told reporters on a Sunday conference that the fireball in Texas sky video must be a true fireball but still it should be investigated to get the accurate details.

"This was definitely what we call a fireball, which by definition is a meteor brighter than the planet Venus," Cooke told reporters Sunday.

"This event was so bright that it was picked up on a NASA meteor camera in the mountains of New Mexico over 500 miles away, which makes it extremely unusual," he said.

Cooke said that the fireball in Texas sky video, based on NASA's camera measures at least four feet wide weighing approximately 4,000 pounds and burned five times than a full moon.

Several people in various Lone Star State reported sighting of the fireball. There are more than 200 reports sent to American Meteor Society about seeing the fireball within minutes of the same range, 8:45 p.m. Central. Others also reported shaking of the ground. In an official tweet by National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio, it says that the ground may have shaken because of the sonic boom.

The source of the fireball in Texas is yet to be confirmed after investigation but Cooke tells they suspect two probable sources of the particular event. It may have come from the ongoing North Taurid meteor shower. The bright fireball could also be a piece of rock from the main asteroid belt between the planets, Mars and Jupiter.
