Woody Harrelson SNL: Hosting Saturday Night Live For First Time In 22 Years … Thank YOU, New ‘Hunger Games’ Fame!

The new Woody Harrelson SNL hosting gig is hardly the first time the actor has been on Saturday Night Live ... but the last time was over 20 years ago, back when he was still in "Cheers"!

Just a week after the famous show's host Jim Carrey mocked Matthew McConaughey's Lincoln commercials in their Halloween special, the long-running NBC sketch comedy show has announced that they'll be following up with a Woody Harrelson SNL hosting gig.

Funnily enough, Woody Harrelson's SNL gig is not a bad way to follow, since after all Harrelson and McConaughey are close friends, having collaborated in several projects such as the 1999 film "Edtv," and most recently the first season of HBO show "True Detective," in a role that got McConaughey his first ever Emmy nod earlier this year.

It's still unclear whether Woody Harrelson's SNL gig will be poking fun at his best bro Matthew, but fans of the show can expect some Panem-related jokes, as Harrelson's appearance comes just in time to promote the latest film of the dystopian "Hunger Games" franchise, as reminded by Entertainment Weekly.

Interestingly enough, this would be the third time that Woody Harrelson's SNL appearance becomes a reality: he's hosted the show twice before, once in 1989 and then later in 1992, as he was still a part of the beloved 80s bar sitcom "Cheers."

So, it's safe to say that in SNL, everybody knows Woody's name!

The latest of Woody Harrelson's SNL gigs will be happening on November 15, almost two weeks from now, and it will be his first appearance on the show since the dawn of the 21st century.

According to Cinema Blend, Kendrick Lamar will join Harrelson in the musical scene, marking the second time the hip hop artist shows up in Saturday Night Live, after a stint back in 2013.

The announcement of the upcoming hosts came during last Saturday's episode, which was hosted by comedian Chris Rock and had legendary artist Prince as its musical guest, according to Screen Crush.
