10 Foods You Should Not Refrigerate

You came home from the supermarket, arrange the foods and as quickly as you can pile those perishables. But do you know that some foods are better left out on your counter?

Some foods have certain characteristics that are lost or altered making these foods look different, taste unusual and spoil fast. Everyone knows how refrigeration helps in the preservation, but not all are good when left inside the refrigerator. Here are 10 foods you must never, never left in the fridge:

 Fresh Berries are best at room temperature. Berries can become soggy and moldy when washed at once and not eaten for a couple of days. Wash berries just before eating.

Tomatoes in the fridge will lose its flavor and texture. It becomes mealy and dry.

Ground or bean Coffee must not be stacked in the refrigerator. Once it sits on the fridge, the coffee will absorb various smells and lose its aroma. Moisture takes out the moisture out of the coffee so it will lose its original flavor.

Garlic retains its powerful flavor in a cool, dry container. It molds fast and become rubbery in texture inside the fridge.

Onions in the fridge can make it moldy and mushy. Put it on your counter, but avoid direct sunlight, and once cut it can stay in your refrigerator in a resealable bag in the vegetable drawer.

Potatoes in the fridge will end up making it rough and unpleasantly sweet. Know why? Low temperature breaks down the starch. So they are best left in a cool, dry place out of the sunlight.

Melon family including cantaloupes, honeydew and watermelon taste better when left in the counter. USDA revealed that leaving melons at room temperature can help retain its antioxidants. Once cut, store them in the refrigerator not more than three to four days.

Bananas inside the fridge will make green bananas green for a longer time. If you want to eat bananas anytime, leave it in room temperature. Although its skin may turn darker, the fruit remains perfect.

Some people believe that stacking breads inside the fridge can make it lasts longer. Breads placed inside the fridge makes it dry and hard.

Honey is best left at room temperature. Once it ends up sitting in your fridge, it becomes, crystallized, hard and thicker. Honey outside the fridge can stay at its best condition for actually long, long time.
