Walmart Offered ‘Fat Girl’ Costumes In Their Stores – They Still Do, Under A Different Name

Walmart 'Fat Girl' - Walmart stores and more precisely, their twitter, suffered a mayhem yesterday of angry women reacting at the "fat girl" label found in several of their Halloween costumes.

Nobody knows how long the costumes were posted on the site. But the trouble started yesterday, when Jezebel reported the issue and mentioned some of the reactions to the big retailers' idea of labeling.

"Congrats on your 'Fat Girl Costumes' section. Always keepin classy, eh Walmart?"

"@Walmart fat girl costumes it's stores like yours that make girls & women who aren't size 2 have self-esteem issues," some of the tweets read.

Still, apparently before the report made by Jezebel, Walmart sent an "automatic" sort of reply to the enraged messages in their twitter. It's fair to say they hadn't realized about it yet.

After the report, though, followed by another one from CNN and Time, among others, Walmart did finally catch on the "fat girl" costumes they were offering and gave a sincere apology to the previous messages.

Apparently, the first ones to get in communication with Walmart were from the Huffington Post to address the issue and one of the retailer's spokesperson responded.

"This should have never been on our site. It is unacceptable, and we apologize. We are working to remove it as soon as possible and ensure this never happens again."

The store did remove the "fat girl" labeling, but it's still there, though; now, with the name of "Women's Plus Adult Size."

Yet, it seems like Walmart has different classifications, apart from the "fat girl" section, that are not completely ideal or at least not perceived as completely "funny" by most customers.

One case is the "Fat Tinkerbell," who has supposedly "let herself go since she's ben out of work for so many years," according to the description. And this is one of the customs that most people who see it, don't get the "hilarious" side of it.

Walmart definitely has an offer for everyone and the customs seem to dwell through all possible variations.
