Ferrero brands Keebler and Kinder Joy unleash despicably delicious limited-edition treats to celebrate the theatrical release of Illumination's Despicable Me 4, featuring mischievous Minion-inspired treats and toys.
Who knew that Steve Carell's performance as the crotchety yet loveable supervillain Gru and his posse of adorable yet incomprehensible Minions in Despicable Me would become the heroes of millions of cartoon-loving fans across America? Well, it seems biscuit maker Keebler did, along with Kinder, the chocolatier behind our favorite creme-filled eggs. To celebrate the theatrical release of Illumination's Despicable Me 4 this July, the confectioners both released limited-edition treats that are despicably delicious.
First up, we got the Keebler Despicable Me 4 Rocky Road Fudge Stripes cookies. These fudgey fun bombs take the beloved Keebler Fudge Stripes recipe and give it a munchable marshmallow twist. It's a chocolate and almond-flavored shortbread cookie, topped with a luscious marshmallow-flavored drizzle for that classic rocky road taste. They also come adorned with four different Minion-inspired designs. We asked minions Bob and Kevin what they thought, and they said, "Pem pensa les nama gopa ors pem'd hihon tem bananas" and then they attacked us with rubber chickens and pool noodles. If that's not enough to make you go bananas (cue Minions song), the Keebler elves are also inviting families to join in the mayhem with their Open for Magic digital hub. Just scan the QR code on the packaging, and you'll unlock a world of games, surprises, and possibly even a few fart jokes, all featuring everyone's favorite pint-sized yellow troublemakers.
But the fun doesn't stop there! Kinder Joy is also getting in on the despicable fun with their limited edition eggs. Inside each egg, you'll find a delightful treat featuring layers of crispy wafer bites filled with their silky cocoa cream. But the real star of the show is the collection of eight toys featuring Gru, Lucy, and all your favorite Minions, including Stuart, Phil, Dave, Kevin, Jerry, and Carl. And here's the kicker: these toys can be brought to life in the Applaydu app, where kids (or adults, don't worry, we won't tell ) can create custom homes, avatars, and even personalized bedtime stories around the characters. It's like having your very own Minion sleepover! According to Amber Hansinger, VP of Marketing for Kinder Joy USA, "Kinder Joy is all about special bonding moments between families, which is why we're excited to bring parents this new and fun way to surprise their children."
So, whether you're a die-hard Despicable Me fan or just someone who appreciates a good snack, be sure to grab these limited-edition treats at retailers nationwide. The Keebler Fudge Stripes retail at a suggested $4.80, while the Kinder Joy Eggs will set you back $2.39. It's about to get despicable up in here! You can catch Despicable Me 4 in theatres on July 3rd.
