Aldi makes waves with a groundbreaking move to 100% recycled plastic for their beverage lines. This makes them the first UK-based supermarket to take sustainable packaging this seriously.

Aldi's Recycled Plastic Revolution

Discount supermarket giant Aldi has announced they are switching to 100% recycled plastic for its Aldi-owned bevies and bottled water in England and Wales. This bold step makes Aldi the first British supermarket ever to flip its soft drinks line to recycled packaging.

Saving Thousands of Tons of Plastic

According to Sustainable Plastics, discount supermarket Aldi is moving toward 100% recycled packaging for its soft drink and bottled water lines. This landmark packaging change is expected to save a staggering 10,000 metric tons of net new plastic packaging materials annually from topping off landfills. The move aligns with the retailer's target of introducing 50% recycled plastic into its packaging by 2025. All we can say is hey Kroger, Tesco, Lidl, Walgreens, Albertson's, Whole Foods - see Aldi? Be like Aldi!

Encouraging Customer Participation

Aldi aims to encourage customers to get into the recycling game by introducing new labeling reminding shoppers to recycle their packaging. This all follows Aldi's rolling out paper bottles for their store-owned wine brand and discontinuing plastic bags, so they aren't just jumping on the scammy green-washing bandwagon. They are for real.

Aldi now has over 2000 locations in the US so stop by a store near you and start shopping with the planet in mind. Their global mission is to be a greener store. Your great-grandkids will thank you for it. Keep an eye on Aldi's news site for what new sustainable practices they're supporting at home and abroad.
