KFC's BBQ Perfume Has Sold Out! (Also, KFC Is Now a Perfumer)

(Photo : KFC) KFC’s new No 11 Eau de BBQ perfume has sold out its initial release in the UK.

Put your florals and your musks away, KFC has the hottest new fragrance for the summer. No, your eyes do not deceive you. You read that right. The Colonel has entered the world of high...ish... perfumery, and the debut scent, No 11 Eau de BBQ, has already flown off the shelves where it was released in the UK. The quirky scent comes in a surprisingly chic 100-milligram black and red striped bottle that sells for a modest $13.82.

Finger Lickin' Fragrance or Fowl Play?

The brand released the fragrance in conjunction with its new Ultimate BBQ Burger made with Original Recipe Chicken, crispy onions and tangy BBQ sauce before being topped off with a buttery brioche-style bun. The fragrance is said to be reminiscent of "sizzling spice and marinated meats," with smoky wood and charcoal notes.

"We've all been there - that unmistakable aroma of a BBQ drifting through the air, tantalizing our senses and leaving us craving the taste of smoky goodness. But what if you could capture that irresistible scent in a bottle?" KFC wrote about the scent.

I don't know about you, but I think I'd consider wearing this scent on my next date night about as much as I'd don a knockoff version of Gaga's meat dress at a PETA convention. Although, the hubs DOES love BBQ...but I digress.

While I'm hesitant to believe this could be something anyone would want to wear for a prolonged period of time, internet reviewers say that the fragrance's woody, earthy base notes make the fragrance not as bizarre as you'd think. Some even note that it's surprisingly sophisticated, with a "muskier alluring scent."

Call me a skeptic - I know it's affordable, but it's doubtful that Tom Ford fans will be trading in their Oud Wood for this.

Cluck Yeah! Sold-Out BBQ Cologne Back for Pre-Order (For Charity!)

While the initial batch of No 11 Eau de BBQ has vanished faster than a bucket of chicken at a family reunion, KFC is offering pre-orders. Plus, 100% of the proceeds go to The KFC Foundation, which empowers young people. So you can smell like BBQ for the kids.

KFC's Latest Stunt or a Scent Success?

This isn't KFC's first foray into the bizarre - or the perfume game. Late last year, KFC launched Eau D'uardo Cologne in Spain, a unisex EDT with peppery notes inspired by KFC's secret recipe, along with geranium and mandarin. The brand has also dreamed up chicken-scented fire logs and even Crocs that look like fried chicken buckets.

But with No 11 Eau de BBQ's surprisingly swift success, maybe there's a future for fast-food fragrances. Could we see a McFlurry Mist by McDonald's or a Taco Bell Fiesta spritz? Only time will tell.
