Students line up to receive food during lunch in the cafeteria at Bowie High School March 11, 2004 in Austin, Texas. The Austin School District is working to make their cafeteria offerings more healthy, but the most popular foods are still fried chicken strips, pizza, and french fries.

Fast foods, local restaurants, cafes, and even your home have fried foods rampant because you see them everywhere and any time of the day. It is a cooking method that is not that time consuming and does not require top of the line skills.

However, it is not beyond the common knowledge that fried foods are often related to heart diseases, making some people skeptical about frying their meals.

The heart is one of the most essential parts of the human body because it supports every organ our body has. Without it, people will face their demise, and any complication will affect one's quality of life.

Fried Food Consumption and Heart Disease

In the study entitled Fried-Food Consumption and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease and All-Cause Mortality: A Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies, which was published in BMJ Journal's Heart, the researchers of the study were able to find that consuming fried foods can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and demonstrates a linear dose-response relation.

Insider notes that the researchers discovered that even half a cup of the food could heighten the risk of heart disease and associated cardiovascular diseases.

The researchers emphasize in Press Form that a half cup of 4 ounces of fried food every week is associated with a 2% increase risk of heart disease, 12% increase in the risk of heart failure, and 3% increase in the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Moreover, Insider furthers that people who consumed most fried food per week had a 28% greater chance of major cardiovascular events, 22% increased risk of heart disease, and 37% higher risk of heart failure than those who ate the least.

Health Day shares that the results of the study were derived from 19 previously published studies where 17 reviews' are combined with having 560,000 participants with nearly 37,000 among them have major cardiovascular events, and six more studies giving them an additional 750,000 participants whom about 86,000 among them met their demise in an average of ten years.

Trans Fats in Fried Food

CTV News shares that when the food is fried, the food absorbs some of the fat from the oil used for cooking it, which increases (potentially) the calories it contains. They add that commercially fried and processed foods contain trans fats because they are cheap to produce and last a long time alongside giving foods great texture and taste.

Mayo Clinic explains that trans fats raise the bad cholesterol, increasing the risk of heart disease, which is the leading killer for adults. They further that the US FDA bans food manufacturers from using them because it is very unhealthy.

The heart is significant that people should give these kinds of studies about how fried foods consume leads to heart disease attention. Remember that the researcher associated the effects of fried foods with heart health and diminishing your consumption can be a big step in reinforcing and supporting your heart health.
