A ten year old boy is being charged with murder after he killed a 90 year old lady in bed. The boy is accused of homicide after he held a cane at the woman's neck and repeatedly punched her in the face and neck.
The boy is being charged with double homicide and is being held without bail. The boy is being held by Pennsylvania police officers.
The police say Tristen Kujrilla, 10, of Damascus Township Pennsylvania, was visiting his grandfather at the time. His grandfather was the caretaker of a 90 year old woman, Helen Novak.
The boy denied beating the woman, saying that he told his grandfather that something was wrong and when his grandfather went to see Ms. Helen Novak, he said she was ok. It was later that he went to see her and found that she had died. The death reportedly occurred on Saturday.
The boy's mother brought her to the state police barrack the next day. According to the mother, Tristen told her that he got angry at the 0ld woman for shouting at him, so he grabbed a cane, put t around her neck and repeatedly punched the old woman.
An autopsy report carried out on Ms. Helen Novak was consistent with the boy's story. The prosecutor said that the crime was a criminal homicide and hence, is excluded from juvenile law. The boy will thus be charged as an adult.
"The family is obviously an emotional wreck to have their 10-year-old removed from them and to know he is in a county correctional facility charged as an adult," Brown, the boy's attorney said.
Bernard Brown was also quick to state that the boy was facing clear mental issues that would mean he be charged as a juvenile. Brown would follow up a request for a competency hearing, saying evidence gathered by the prosecutors showed signs of mental instability.
